What is he up to? And how does he do it?

Two electrical engineers mapping Elon Musk’s companies as one engineering stack — nine domains, one map, a living development log. Not politics, not a fan site, not affiliated with Musk or his companies.

What's here

Why look — and why come back

It is one system

Cars, robots, energy, launch and neural are not separate news items. This site shows how those layers lean on each other.

The stack moves faster than the debate

Developments and Stats track engineering: facilities, output, releases. Not tweets, not valuation.

October is fieldwork; the atlas stays

The road trip is a temporary lens on the same stack. Journal fills in October; roadmaps, map and log keep running after.

Harry (The Hague) and Bernard de Groot (Deventer), both TU Delft electrical engineers. Scope: factories, labs, launch, the nine roadmaps. Not stores, Superchargers, or every Starlink gateway. Sources are public; unknown figures are marked “—” or “~”. About

Technology roadmaps

Nine engineering domains in three layers — reach, intelligence, ground. Expand a card for releases and end goals. Names link to the ecosystem, map, or development log.

Global map

Musk sites worldwide — factories, labs, launch, energy.

Entity registry

Two indicators per organization: influence and engagement phase. Filter by tech domain for engineering focus.

Engineering scale

Major facilities and output — not stores, Superchargers, or every ground station. New quarter = new column (scroll sideways). Figures are public reporting, rounded; “—” unknown, “~” estimate. Period rows (launches, GWh deployed) are labelled in the cell.

Insights

Twelve engineering essays on the nine-domain stack — analysis, not a news feed. Four audio episodes sit above the reading.

Listen

Four episodes on how he thinks and what he is building.

The Musk Method How he thinks, asks, and runs 10 min

There is a meeting at SpaceX. An engineer presents a specification. Musk asks: who required this — name the person. Nobody knows. Delete it. That was not an outburst. That was a method.

This episode is not about who he is or what he believes politically. It is about how he thinks: first principles, the five-step algorithm, the idiot index, shortest-path communication, and why he automates last.

Not who he is. How he thinks — the method behind the map.

Musk and AI The man who fears it most and builds it fastest 12 min

There is a man who has called artificial intelligence the greatest existential threat to civilization — then built the largest AI supercomputer on Earth. He co-founded OpenAI, left, sued, and launched xAI in the same week he signed a letter calling for a pause.

This episode is the paradox: OpenAI, the pause letter, Colossus in Memphis, Neuralink, and the alignment problem. Not a simple story. A serious one.

The man who fears it most and builds it fastest.

Musk and the Machine Robots, factories, and the future of work 13 min

Most people who think about Elon Musk think about rockets or cars. People who have worked closely with him say something else: manufacturing. The factory. The machine that builds the machine.

This episode is gigacasting, the idiot index, Gigafactories as iterating software, and Optimus — the humanoid robot that is supposed to make work optional. The honest question is what happens to the humans in the middle.

The factory is the product.

Musk and the World Mars, Starlink, X, and population 10 min

In 2002 Musk flew to Russia to buy two old ICBMs, to send a greenhouse to Mars. The Russians didn't take him seriously. On the flight home he decided to build the rocket himself. SpaceX was born on that flight. The greenhouse is still the point.

This episode is Mars as backup, Starship, Starlink, X as the everything app, and the population decline he calls civilization's most underappreciated risk. The thread is redundancy. The tension is that so much of it runs through one person.

Backup for civilization — and who gets to build it.

Development log

Technology and corporate-structure milestones — mergers, facilities, product launches. Dated reveals in the next quarter sit under Coming up. Not a finance log: no revenue, valuation, or IPO tracker. Routine launches, static fires and legal updates live in Launch log. Same engineering filter on https://x.com/muskroadmaps — milestones only.
